 [00:01:00]

Welcome to our Sunday show where we take a more spiritual approach to our study of mastering our finances. Today we delve into the concept of extending grace to others. And the gift that forgiveness brings to both the forgiver. And most importantly to the forgiven. Forgiveness is a choice. It's a decision to let go of resentment. Anger. And a desire for revenge. It's about releasing the burden of pain. And choosing to extend grace and compassion to those who have wronged us. in extending forgiveness.

We not only free others from the chains of guilt. But we also liberate ourselves from the bondage of bitterness and resentment. The act of forgiveness is deeply rooted in many religious and spiritual [00:02:00] traditions. Including Christianity. In the Bible we find numerous verses that emphasize the importance of forgiveness. And the transformative power it holds. One such verses found in Colossians chapter three, verse 13, which states. Bear with each other. And forgive one another. If any of you has grievances against someone. Forgive as the Lord has forgiven you. This verse reminds us of the unconditional forgiveness that we have received from God. And causes us to extend the same grace to others. Listen, the act of

forgiveness is not easy. This is something that I've struggled with many times. And I'm sure you have as well. It requires humility. compassion. And a willingness to let go of the past. But listen folks.

However, the rewards of forgiveness are immeasurable. When we make the choice to forgive, we open the door to healing. Reconciliation. [00:03:00] And restoration. Forgiveness allows us to break free from the cycle of hurt and pain. And it paves the way for a future filled with peace. Love. And most of all understanding.

One of the most powerful examples of forgiveness in the Bible is a story of Joseph and his brothers.

Despite being betrayed and sold into slavery by his own siblings. Joseph chose to forgive them. And extend grace. In Genesis. Chapter 50 verse 20. Joseph says to his brothers, you intended to harm me. But God intended it for good. To accomplish what is now being done? The saving of many lives. Joseph's act of forgiveness, not only restored his relationship with his brothers. But also brought about a greater purpose and redemption.

Forgiveness is a gift. That we not only give to others, but also to ourselves. This is truly something that is a gift for us. When we [00:04:00] choose to forgive, we release ourselves from the burden of carrying grudges and resentments. This frees up our energy to focus on what's important in our lives. And allows us to see more clearly our purpose. Without distractions of emotional baggage over past hurts. We open our hearts to love. Compassion and understanding. And we create space for healing and transformation to take place. Without forgiveness. This space, isn't able to be freed up.

As we reflect on the gift of forgiveness and the power of extending grace to others.

Let us remember these words of Jesus. This is in Matthew chapter six, verses 14 and 15.

For, if you forgive other people, when they sin against you. Your heavenly father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, their sins, your father will not forgive your sins. These are humbling words. These words, remind us of the importance of forgiveness in our lives. And the impact that has on our relationship with not [00:05:00] only others, but with God himself.

Let us take a moment to reflect on those who have wronged us. And to offer them, the gift of forgiveness. Let us choose to extend grace. Compassion. And love. Knowing that in forgiveness, we can find freedom. Healing. And most of all redemption.

May we be inspired by the example of Joseph. And the teaching of Jesus to forgive others as we have been forgiven.

before we conclude today's episode, let's bow our heads in prayer. Heavenly father. We come before you with hearts filled with gratitude for the gift of forgiveness. We thank you for the example of Joseph. And the teaching of Jesus. Which reminds us of the transformative power of extending grace to others. Help us to release the burdens of anger and resentment and the choose forgiveness in all areas of our lives. May we be vessels of your love and compassion. Spreading healing. And reconciliation, wherever [00:06:00] we go. In your name? We pray. Amen.
